spring and young-uns

We can tell spring is on the way- daffodils are almost gone, the moss has taken over the lawn, the squirrels have taken over the bird feeder, and the deer have returned to the apple trees.

I am including a picture of the daffodils, from a couple of weeks ago. They are cheery, aren't they?

I had the little grand kids over yesterday. They "made" cinnamon rolls- very fun. The dough certainly gets a workout!!!Ewan liked his rolls "big" and plain. Carson liked hers "little" with a lot of cinnamon and sugar (and TONS of frosting!!!) . It was fun playing with the dough, and them!

Madison came over a bit later and also had fun with the other little kids. She decided to use a "fork" to get her piece of cheese off of her plate....very cute!

I enjoy the grandkids- they are all great kids!

Calista and I share several Weds. a month together, as I am the Activity days assistant, and she is in that age group. Last week was St. Patrick's day, and she came up with the whole activity. We learned a bit about St. Patrick and the legends, then she had the girls color, cut out and paste a shamrock on construction paper, and also write 4 things they had learned about St. Patricks day. We then decorated green cupcakes with green frosting. Also, played a couple of board games. Good ideas, Calista!

I get to go to Jeff and Calista's music concerts, also. Reminds me of the concerts I used to go to with our kids- seems like yesterday!!!sigh....

Have a good "rest of March!"

talented

I received a special gift the other day. My mother and father (Mama and Daddy) MADE me a beautiful new bedspread! I was commenting to her when she was visiting the last time, that my bedspreads were becoming ratty. I intended to tie some quilts to replace the old ones. Well, what do you know, she and Daddy sent me this!!!

Just thought I'd share!

My mother has always been so talented in many things: drawing , playing piano, organ, guitar; writing poetry; baking; crocheting and I think knitting; uplifting and serving others; singing alto;(which I still try to do....)sending fun notes and letters; loving to be in and direct drama productions; cutting hair; sewing; driving boats with water skiiers(which I DON"T like doing); riding horses; cleaning and doing yard work;visiting with friends;teaching grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play Nertz and No Peeky; playing piano duets with daughters; and other things that I probably forgot to mention...(oh, and laughing with over small but funny to us things!)

I hope to be as accomplished when I'm a great grandma!!

I've also included a picture which was taken at my Niece's wedding a year or so ago, of My sister in law Judy; my mother; me and my sister, Kristen. Fun to be together!!!
